Because I drove 1.500 miles each way to race in Boulder in 2007 and I'm glad I did!
You folks have some fabulous talents and a fine venue (and great people and a lovely town). You don't need to stop racing just because some business corporation can no longer make a profit on it. Nobody else makes money on KSR. We do it for the love of it -- a.k.a. as For The Glory!
I won't be able to come to Boulder this year, but I'm "with you".

Because it can't be stopped. I recall the morning of the first annual Boulder event as I walked across the parking lot in the Niwot shopping center (the first race began there, not at the res) and wondered if anyone would show up to see it. Two hours later the lot was packed with kineticists and spectators. After the start, I drove around the backside of the res and was amazed to see the thousands of spectators lining the banks of Boulder Reservour. I then definitely knew that I had done something that would be around for awhile.
I have been amazed that not only has the Boulder event lasted for so many years, but also that it was a stepping stone for kinetic events to start up around the country. Port Townsend, Washington was number 3, and the rest is history.
I encourage those of you planning for the future of the Boulder event to drop the BS Kinetic Sculpture Challange name and call it what it should have been called in the first place, the Boulder Kinetic Sculpture Race.
For the Glory!
